De Lantaarn is a comic based on the singular illustration I made in 2018 (see Palissander 55)

The lanterns that stand in my old neighborhood became the symbol of my childhood. I used to always climb these and every time it was a challenge to climb to the top and tap the lamp. These moments seem very mundane but are very important to me and to my childhood. I love to tell these stories because they are so easily forgotten. This short comic started with wanting to expand my comic portfolio but turned out to be a very important and personal story.

The meaning is open for interpretation. It could be a story about achieving, growing up. Or just a kid that lives in the moment. What do you see?
